How a Handmade Font Transformed My Small Business Branding

When I launched my little candle-making business, I focused on perfecting the scents, testing the waxes, and designing the packaging. But it wasn’t until I took a closer look at typography that everything started to feel like a real brand. That’s when I found Baby Jumps — a playful, handmade script font that gave my product labels, packaging, and social media visuals a warm, personal touch.

Baby Jumps has a charming, slightly bouncy look that feels like it was written by hand. It’s not overly formal, but still clean and readable. The letterforms have just the right amount of whimsy, making it perfect for businesses that want to feel approachable, creative, and authentic. Whether it’s on a candle jar, a thank-you card, or a website banner, this font brings a sense of joy and personality to every design.

Why Typography Matters for Small Brands

At first, I didn’t think much about fonts. I used whatever came pre-installed on my design app. But when I started getting feedback like “your brand feels a little scattered,” I realized I needed more visual consistency. Typography plays a huge role in how customers perceive your brand — from first impressions to how professional and trustworthy you appear.

Switching to Baby Jumps helped unify my brand across different touchpoints. From product packaging to Instagram stories, everything now felt like it belonged together. The font worked especially well for short phrases, headlines, and logo design, where a bit of flair helps grab attention without overwhelming the message.

Real-World Uses for Baby Jumps

I started with my candle labels. Before, I used a generic cursive font that looked okay but didn’t stand out. With Baby Jumps, the labels felt more personal and intentional. I used it for the scent names and a bit of decorative text on the back. It also worked beautifully on thank-you cards and custom stickers I included in each shipment.

Next, I applied it to my Instagram templates. I wanted my carousel posts and product photos to feel cohesive and branded. I used Baby Jumps for headlines and captions in my Canva designs, and it gave everything a warm, handmade feel. Even my email headers and website banners got a refresh with this font.

Pairing Baby Jumps with Other Fonts

One thing I learned early on was that Baby Jumps works best as a display font — for headlines, logos, or short phrases. For longer body text, I paired it with a clean sans serif font like Montserrat or Open Sans. This combination gave my designs a balanced look: playful and fun on top, clear and easy to read below.

If you're going for a more elegant or vintage vibe, pairing Baby Jumps with a serif font like Playfair Display can create a lovely contrast. Just make sure not to use too many different fonts in one design. Stick to two or three at most for a polished, professional look.

What to Watch for When Using Baby Jumps

While Baby Jumps is a beautiful font, there are a few things to keep in mind depending on where and how you use it. For small labels or mobile screens, it’s best used in slightly larger sizes to maintain readability. If you're printing on packaging or stickers, test the font at actual size before finalizing your design.

Also, check what styles and alternates are included in the font package. Some script fonts come with ligatures or swashes that can add extra flair to your logo or headline. Make sure the font supports the languages you need if your audience is multilingual. And always confirm the licensing — Baby Jumps is a commercial font, so it’s safe to use in most business contexts, but it’s good to double-check before using it on merchandise or templates for sale.

From Casual to Cohesive: A Branding Win

Before Baby Jumps, my branding felt like a collection of mismatched pieces. After the switch, everything looked like it belonged together. Customers started commenting on how “put together” my packaging looked, and I even noticed a bit more engagement on my social posts.

It’s amazing how much a single font can do. Baby Jumps didn’t just change the way my brand looked — it changed how it felt. More personal, more intentional, and more memorable. Whether you're launching a new product line, redesigning your packaging, or just trying to look more professional, choosing the right font is one of the simplest and most effective steps you can take.
